A few days late, here is the tale of our Sat bird walk in Glen Helen. It was a beautiful, cloudless morning. Crisp air, with the temperature in the high forties. We started from Trailside Museum, where we had a flyover cooper's hawk. Along Yellow Springs Creek, we found a couple late hummingbirds, an immature rose-breasted grosbeak, ovenbird and multiple Swainson's thrushes. A Louisiana waterthrush was singing intermittently -- even at this late date. Around Baldwin Pond, we found broad-winged hawk, brown thrasher, white-eyed vireo, blackburnian warbler, field sparrow, towhee On the Stagecoach Rd., we found a large mixed flock of cedar waxwing and American robin going after the abundant ripe grapes. Blackburnian and Tennessee warbler were among the birds intermingling with the flock.
