Hi all, If you've not yet seen the oft-mentioned Hocking County Mississippi Kites at the Brass Ring Golf Course and wish to, I'd suggest a visit soon. The daily hawk watch at Corpus Christi, Texas has tallied about 2,000 passing over in the past few days, and this fall's total is about 23,000 birds so far. So, kites are moving like crazy and I suspect ours will soon be joining them. At Brass Ring, the adults are fattening up the little guy like crazy; extrapolating what we saw down there last Friday, they've probably stuffed many hundreds of fat, juicy cicadas down its gullet in the last week. If you haven't seen Aaron Boone's fantastic series of photos of these birds from last Friday, go here: http://picasaweb.google.com/boone70/MississippiKite1stOhioNestingRecordH ockingCounty Jim McCormac Jim McCormac Ohio Division of Wildlife 2045 Morse Rd., G-3 Columbus, Ohio 43229 614-265-6440 ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
