A few minutes ago on Survivor China they showed how the Chinese
have these "trained"? Cormorant looking sort of birds (not a
domesticated
bird anyway) fish for them. They tie their throats off so they can't
swallow
the fish - when they pop back up with the fish they make them drop it.
The birds are normally tied to the boat I think but in the water they
are just
trailing their little ropes. So the could fly away upon resurfacing but
apparently do not. This particular family that fished for the
winning tribe
had approx 5 of these birds. I don't have a worldwide book handy.

Season after season seeing the birds on this show I've wondered if
there are people out there keeping Survivor
Bird lists.
