I went birding today (October 13, 2007) at Three Creeks Metro Park in southeast Columbus. First, I arrived at 8:00 am at the Confluence Trails Area. I took Confluence Trail, then walked to Heron Pond along the Alum Creek Greenways Trail, then I walked back to the Confluence Trails Area by way of Alum Creek Greenways Trail. I drove back up to the Heron Pond Area, then walked north along the Alum Creek Greenway Trail, all the way around the Oxbow Loop, and then I walked back south to the Heron Pond Area. I left around 5:00 pm. Bird activity seemed highest starting at 11:00 am and was slowing down by 5:00 pm. Below are the birds I saw in each area with the best estimates that I could manage (still learning how to effectively count).
