Aaron's post was a welcome, but not unexpected addition to the list of birds seen at Deer Creek. I thought I'd put together a list of the species seen there : http://www.roysephotos.com/DeerCreekList.html There are a lot of holes in the list, especially migrant passerines. Deer Creek doesn't get a whole lot of attention in May and Sept., but it shouldn't be too hard to add a lot of common species with some casual poking around during those months especially along the creek. The waterfowl list is OK, but I don't recall ever seeing any scoters there. Has anyone else? I hope that anyone who has birded there can look over the list linked above and could email me with what you've seen. I'll then update the list. I haven't had a chance to do much birding myself this fall, but hope to dust off the binoculars in a few weeks. Here in Columbus along the Scioto River, Red-breasted Nuthatches have been an almost constant presence at my sunflower seed feeder for a few weeks now. Warblers are still present along the river in good numbers, although Yellow-rumps are by far the majority at this point. Bob Royse Subject: FRANKLIN'S GULL @ Deer Creek From: Aaron Boone <boone.70 AT OSU.EDU> Date: Sat, 6 Oct 2007 12:56:29 -0400 I headed over to Deer Creek SP this morning and was rewarded with a lone adult Franklin's Gull on the beach. I was expecting to see at least a few Bonaparte's Gulls on the lake but there weren't any around...mostly Ring-billeds and a few scattered Herrings. Everything else was pretty much quite.
