Howdy All, I left work early yesterday afternoon and arrived at Buck Creek SP between 5:30 and 5:45 pm. The Red Phalarope was still present where it was last reported by Brian Menker. It was at the very north end of the beach beyond where the walkway ends. It was first in a small cove in the rocky shoreline where the drainage ditch ends and empties into the lake. It was just beyond the disabled buoy behind some bushes that obscure one's view from the south of this small area. By standing quietly and not moving I was able to get very close looks at this Red Phalarope as it picked among the rocks in the small inlet. Some people showed up to fish nearby causing the bird to fly a short distance to the north end of the beach. Again, along the beach as this bird swam and fed in the water, I was able to study it closely by standing quietly and moving very little and slowly. I will post some digiscoped photos as well as SLR photos of it swimming in the water and feeding. Thanks to Brain Menker and Bill Whan for sharing the information about this bird. There may have been other posts since mid-afternoon yesterday about this bird, but I did not see them before I left work. Jay Jay G.
