Not much moving along the Ashtabula Co. lakefront this morning. Conneaut had 60 horned grebes, a migrating n. harrier, an Am. pipit, and 35 snow buntings (2 flocks). At Ashtabula I found 5 great blue herons, bald eagle, 35 cedar waxwings, and 7 snow buntings. Mosquito L/WA had plenty of waterfowl, including pintails, shovelers, 30 Am. wigeon, 40 black ducks, 45 gadwalls, 125 green-winged teal, 150 ring-necked ducks, buffleheads, 125 hooded mergs, ruddy ducks. Bonaparte's gulls numbered 300+. Raptors were disappointing other than 3 red-shouldered hawks. It seemed odd to leave Mosquito without seeing a single eagle or harrier there. The day's total of some other species was notably low also: 1 lesser scaup, no goldeneyes, 100 red-breasted mergs, 4 common loons, 9 coots, no great black-backed gulls. At least the sun came out for awhile. Later, Craig --------------------------------- Never miss a thing.
