This morning my dad and I headed up to Huron for the SABINE'S GULL. As reported earlier it was there out sitting on the water past the lighthouse. I had it in my scope sitting on the water and flying breifly for about a half an hour.

We then went over to Maumee Bay State Park and saw a single CACKLING GOOSE in with many Canada Geese and 4 TRUMPETER SWANS on the pond near the sled hill. We then checked the area around the sled hill for Common Redpolls that we had heard had been seen in the morning. We did not find the Redpolls but a SHORT-EARED OWL was circling the area for a long time.

I don't know if this is a rarity but on the way home we saw a GREAT EGRET. I don't know if an egret this late is really a rarity but if anyone is interested, the bird was stalking in a reedy pond area alongside route 2 just east of the Davis-Besse nuclear power plant.

  Good Birding!
