Hi ! I am posting this for Shaune Skinner. Yesterday (11/29/07) Shaune, her father & brother observed 389 (!!) Sandhill Cranes in Northwestern Ohio. At 4:10 PM, they saw 5 flocks flying southeast towards Grand Lake St. Mary's in Celina, Ohio. Flock 1 - 120, flock 2 - 80, flock 3 - 60, flock 4 - 110, and flock 5 - 19. Their characteristic call/song was very audible. She also wanted me to mention that the 18 Sandhills that have been reported in previous postings in Auglaize Co. were still there as of yesterday at the gravel pit location. Good birding !
