I stopped by the Gordon Park Marina and 72nd street this afternoon, not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. In the marina waters close to Dike 14 was a female LONG-TAILED DUCK associating closely with two Horned Grebes (or maybe they were associating with it). Two Peregrine Falcons were cruising the edge of Dike 14 along the marina side. Other species included Pied-billed Grebe, Mallard, C. Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Hooded and Common Mergansers.

Observing from near the hot water out-flow at 72nd, I easily found two adult and one second winter LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS and one adult GLAUCOUS GULL. There were normal concentrations of Ring-billed, Herring and Great Black-backed gulls.

I took some bad pictures of the L-t Duck and gulls.

It was nice to be out and about. There is still some lingering ice so tread carefully.
