Birders, the weather has packed my feeders with numbers of the usual suspects, but no rarities- 8 cardinals 15 juncos 1 RB nuthatch (there used to be M+F, I have seen only the male for a month) 8 Black-capped chickadees 2 Wb nuthatches 2 downies 3 red-bellieds only 3 goldfinches 1 redshouldered hawk making passes I continue to be perplexed/amazed/troubled by the utter lack of sparrows- nary a one! the only possibly hint of interest was a beautiful melodious high-pitched song from the tops of the spruces- sounded a lot like WW crossbill, but I've only heard them once in real life. best to all ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
