A call from Troy Shively informs me that the Toledo CBC team found birds of interest at Woodlawn Cemetery (this is visible from the freeway near the Jeep plant) this morning. They had 40-45 redpolls, 3-4 red-breasted nuthatches, and 30-40 siskins. Also present, and perched prominently on a telephone pole at the corner of Jackman and Wychwood, is a merlin; locals said they'd been seeing it in the area for several days. This spot has many mature conifers, some birches, etc., and is pleasant to bird. If it's still around, don't get too excited about the whooper swan that may still be a fixture in the ponds; it's a release, but good practice for next time you're in Vladivostok... Cheers, Bill Whan Columbus ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
