Hi all,
?? I helped out with two Columbus area CBCs this weekend. The weather was decent, but the birds seemed few and far between. Some of the highlights are below:
Black-crowned Night Heron- 14 along the Olentangy at OSU

Snow Goose- 4-5 seen by several groups in NW Columbus- one was at a quarry on Dublin Rd north of Glick Rd, another a flyover near OSU

Some late-ish ducks, including Ring necked, Redhead, Canvasback, Lesser Scaup, and Ruddy were in the same quarry

Red-shouldered Hawk- several in the Glacier Ridge MP area

Merlin- back at the same spot along the Olentangy just north of the OSU Wetland center

Also, higher than average numbers of Brown Creepers, N Mockingbirds, Swamp, Fox, and White-crowned Sparrows

These are just the highlights that I saw, the count compilers may have more soon.

Good birding,

Steve Landes
