Lunatic that I am, I went back for the last of the afternoon, spending an additional hour and a half at E 72nd St. watching the gulls. It was not a wasted trip, the turnover and huge number of birds keep things interesting. Whereas I didn't see a Thayer's during the late morning hours, I saw two this afternoon, one adult and a second bird I believe to be the same one I saw on Wednesday, a second year bird, I think. Also, I saw and photographed an adult Iceland, whereas in the morning I had seen only first and second year birds. The Glaucous Gulls continued their parade with multiple adult and sub adult birds; however, I did not relocate my target bird, the Glaucous with pale brown primaries. I plan to curb my lunacy and get back to some overdue work. Also, things are supposed to warm up a bit and the gulls might disperse. Still, it's a great time for gull watching. I look forward to the reports from others. Have a great weekend!
