Hello, It is delightful to have a reason to bird close to home (Winter Bird Atlas), and sometimes it brings surprises. In extreme northwest Wayne County (including the northern Overton Ponds) we found a few: a Merlin, perched on a tree on a farm on Rice Hill Road, about 12 redpolls, feeding with sparrows on Camp Road, and now that the ponds on Overton Rd have melted, we found 3 black ducks and 3 pintails with many more mallards and Canada geese.
