Things were really slow today with few ducks and small numbers of gulls. The lone excitement was a very pale second year glaucous gull. Nearly all the birds were heading east. The feeders were hopping with the common species today. A single common redpoll and pine siskin were around most of the morning. The white-winged crossbill was not seen again. the crossbill has been hanging with a group of 8-10 house finches. The last couple days only a pair of house finches have been seen. Typically when it gets really cold and windy, the house finches tend to leave. It's supposed to warm up this weekend, we'll see if they and the crossbill return.
