1/5/2008 3:00 pm Several birds of interest were found in the rain at Hoover Reservoir. Near the boardwalk there were various areas of the lake where the ice was breaking up. A large area of open water was found near the osprey nesting platform. In this spot was one blue-phased snow goose mixed with many Canada Geese. Also located with the geese were 15 ring-necked ducks, a pintail and many black ducks and mallards. It is also likely that some scaup and gadwall were mixed in the flock although they were quite far out. Area D also had open water. At this location there were about 5 hooded mergansers and a female common goldeneye. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
