I also walked Ira to Bolanz today and, in addition to Douglas Vogas's finds,
had an adult Northern Shrike at the Beaver Marsh, around 10am. It landed in
a treeptop right next to the boardwalk. I did not see it later.

This is the second shrike for me this winter (the other at Sandy Ridge), and
the third since last spring (also at Sandy Ridge). Feel pretty lucky, but
wish that could translate into a lottery win... :)
Maybe the same bird from the Coliseum and Oak Hill areas in December?

Others along the towpath:

Hairy Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Tufted Titmouse
Cedar Waxwing (no Bohemian)
Carolina wrens calling
American Tree Sparrow
Red-tailed Hawk
Red-shouldered hawk sitting among the blackbirds at Bolanz

Beautiful day to be birding...

Cheers,
Rita Schneider
