Greetings birders - The last post I made was discombobulated when it came to the gull list. Here's another try: Greetings birders - Today a bunch of birders hit East 55th and East 72nd for gulls and waterfowl. Tally was 8 species of gulls. Details below. A single female Canvasback, single female Redhead, a single female Lesser Scaup, and at least 25 Gadwall were hanging out in the East 55th boat marina. An amazing number of Lesser Black-backed Gulls today - this report mentions 22 as our liberal high count. It's fair to say we had "around 20" total. GULLS: Bonaparte's Gull - 4 Ring-billed Gull - uncountable Herring Gull - uncountable Lesser Black-backed Gull: 22 A perfect tally was impossible, but:East 55th: 4 adults and 2 1st year birds on the docks; 5 adults and 2 1st years at breakwall pointEast 72nd: one 3rd year, two 2nd years, at least 3 1st years, and another 4 or 5 adults.
