The snow has brought in unusual backyard birds. At about 11:00, we saw a Brewer's Blackbird on the deck at our Westerville home. It hung around for a few minutes, moving to several different nearby perches in small trees. At 12:10, a 1st winter Red-tailed Hawk landed on the feeder pole, performing quite a balancing act to remain upright. It must have decided that suburban backyards were unlikely hunting grounds for voles, as departed within a minute. Needless to say, the more typical feeder birds made themselves scarce for awhile. -- Bill Heck ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
