Hello, After weeks and weeks of lower numbers of Canada Goose in the neighborhood, I just watched a fairly large movement of "wild" Canada Geese come into my pond. There have been about 75 of the semi-domesticated "maxima" Canada Geese at the pond every day now for the last several weeks. These geese that flew in just now are obviously more wild and most of them are noticeably smaller than the resident maxima's (they are probably the interior subspecies). One of them has a white neck band with a number on it. However, I was very excited to see 2 Cackling Geese in the mix, which stand out with their stubby bills, very short necks, and smaller bodies. The location of the pond is the same as previous sightings: Spindler Rd. and Summerlawn Dr., Hilliard, OH 43026. I feel there is a good chance these recent arrivals won't stay longer than today, but ya never know! I'm going to go out in a little bit to get some pictures, and I'll post them if they're decent. -Nate ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
