What a beautiful morning. About 5 inches of snow covering everything. With fresh snow and school closed, we took a jaunt about Wakeman early this morning to see what was feeding. On Green Road we spotted a beautiful barred owl hunting near the road. It apparently missed what ever it dove at but perched in the pines for over 30 minutes scouring the ground below. Perhaps it has someone on a nest that it's feeding since we've seen barred owls often in this area. We circled the block and returned to find it still hunting. Great way to start the day. At the feeders we had scads of goldfinches, cardinals, juncos, titmice, chickadees and house finches. Also were delighted to still have 5 red polls, carolina wren, white crowned sparrows and WB & RD nuthatches. Woodpeckers joined in later led by downy, hairy and red bellied . This day just keeps getting better Happy birding Dorothy & Doug ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
