CACKLING GOOSE: The Southwest Ohio (Dayton) RBA reported that on the 26th one was found on the Great Miami River between Miamisburg and downtown Dayton. Doug Overacker found five on White Lake, Pike County, on the 27th. Long-tailed Duck: John Pogacnik spotted one at Fairport Harbor, Lake County, on the 25th. Golden Eagle: The Wilds, Muskingum County, remains the place to see this species. Glen Crippen saw one on the 26th, Sally Isacco one on the 31st. Thayer's Gull: Adults and first- and second-year birds were reported from East 72nd Street, Cleveland, over the weekend. Iceland Gull: Numerous over the weekend at East 72nd Street, Cleveland, with Phil Chaon reporting 17 on the 25th. Northern Shrike: Chuck Anderson and Tom Kemp relocated the bird at Freyman Road in Cricket Frog Cove Park near Cygnet, Wood County, on the 26th. Gabe Leidy reported one from Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area on the 27th. The Bobolink RBA (330-763-5119) has info on a couple in its area. HARRIS'S SPARROW: The Bobolink RBA (330-763-5119) reports that one was seen at least through the 29th at a private residence along TR 227 west of New Bedford, Coshocton County. White-winged Crossbill: On the 26th and 27th, one was again visiting the yard of John Pogacnik's North Perry, Lake County, home. Common Redpoll: John Pogacnik reported 40 near his home in North Perry, Lake County, on the 27th. Jen Brumfield had a flock of 30 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, on the 28th. Ethan Kistler's map at www.rarebird.org shows 42 Ohio counties from which redpolls have been reported.
