FEB. 09, 2008 - Hike the Dickerson Run bottomlands between Akron Peninsula Rd. and the Cuyahoga River; Hike the Wetmore Trailhead area; Bird the Bolanz parking lot at the Towpath Trail and check the white pine groves south of Old Trail School on Ira Rd. for owls. TIME: 8:45am - 11:00am TEMP.: 37-42 COND.: Cloudy; no snow cover, bottomlands very sloppy due to recent heavy rains. FT.MI.: 2.0 OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus. I. MAMMALS: 3 SPECIES. 1. Coyote - 1 2. Meadow Vole - 1 3. White-tailed Deer - 18 II. BIRDS: 27 SPECIES. (NOTE: *= bird was heard but not seen) 1. Canada Goose - 94 2. Mallard - 9 (5m,4f) 3. Great Blue Heron - 4 4. Great Horned Owl - 1 (on Bath Rd. nest) 5. Barred Owl - 1 (pines south of Old Trail School) 6. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 4 (*) 7. Downy Woodpecker - 1 (*) 8. Northern Flicker - 1 (*) 9. Pileated Woodpecker - 1 (*) 10. Blue Jay - 4 11. American Crow - 36 12. Black-capped Chickadee - 6 13. Tufted Titmouse - 3 14. White-breasted Nuthatch - 1 (*) 15. Carolina Wren - 1 16.
