Had the BFEC (Brown Family Environmental Center) Wed. Morning Birdwalk today at 8:00-9:00am. The feeders were jam-packed with sparrows and other birds including appearances by the following: Red-Winged Blackbird - 30 males with some young males mixed in. Common Grackle - 1 Brown-headed Cowbird - 1 Blue Jay Am. Crow White-throated Sparrow - 6 Song Sparrow - 5 D.E. Junco - 10+ American Tree Sparrow - 25 House Finches House Sparrows Cardinals Tufted Titmice C. Chickadee White-breasted Nuthatches Downy Woodpeckers Hairy Woodpecker Red-bellied Woodpeckers Carolina Wren - 1 Mourning Dove - 6 I then walked around outside some in the light snow and observed a flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS, and AMERICAN ROBINS, a pair of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, and I almost didn't recognize the sound since there were so many calling and I wasn't expecting to hear them this time of year; a small flock of KILLDEER. Driving home along the Kokosing River I saw a BELTED KINGFISHER, and a GREAT BLUE HERON. And several AMERICAN KESTRELS along the roadside power lines.
