Hi all, ? A small group of us headed out to Killdeer Plains WA and surrounding areas today: It was a nice day to be out- we had some nice finds, and had great numbers and diversity of water birds- ended up with 21 species of waterfowl. Highlights included: KPWA Northern Shrike- 1 very cooperative bird working the field across from the Sportmen's Center 16 species of waterfowl (including many Tundra Swans- very cool to hear them calling) LOTS of Killdeer Many Harriers, RTHawks, and Bald Eagles Several E. Meadowlarks A couple mixed Blackbird flocks which included maybe 20 Rusty Blackbirds (many in breeding plumage) CR 115 in Wyandot Co near the Airport Horned Larks- several hundred Lapland Longspurs- several hundred! Snow Buntings- 50+ Great looks at Longspurs and Buntings coming into breeding plumage- they were everywhere! We also hit Upper Sandusky Reservior #2, Delaware WA, and Delaware Reservior where we added lots more ducks and 2 Wilson's Snipe! Good Birding, Steve Landes ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
