Greetings, Yesterday we had inspected the Lorain County Airport area y hoping to find the short eared owls in a culvert, snag of dead trees , brush or among the hedge rows. Nothing but then it was Friday and workmen were working at the houses being constructed along albrecht. After about an hour we noted two rough legged hawks on Oberlin Road and several Red Tailed Hawks before we headed back to Wakeman. Thanks to Ohio Birds, I just had to take another trip to the Lorain County Airport that evening. . As noted, a little after 7:30 pm the Short Eared Owls appeared in the designated location. -Fowl Road open field at the intersection of Albrecht. At that time, there were two other cars waiting patiently. We were all treated to amazing flight patterns and views until it was too dark to track them. Two took off South over the airport field, while the third flew West over the houses toward Oberlin Road. We spotted it at the intersection of Oberlin and Albrecht heading East back toward Fowl. It was a spectacular evening which also included beautiful scenes of a pair of Northern Harriers hunting in the Fowl Road field.
