I had an adult LITTLE GULL fly by this evening at my house in North Perry, Lake County. The lake finally opened up out here today. It is still over 50% ice-covered, but its a start. Now if we can get rid of the snow here. We still have a little bit left. There has been continuous snow cover here since February 10. This morning I didn't have much time to watch, but I did get my first eastern phoebe along with tree swallows, flickers, meadowlarks, and numerous blackbirds and crows. When I left there were a few vultures flying by along with a couple kestrels, red-shouldered hawks, and red-tailed hawks. I also stopped briefly at Lorain Harbor. I didn't have time to really search hard or make any counts, but in the time I was there I found a single SURF SCOTER. There were a lot of red-breasted mergansers and a decent number of Bonaparte's gulls flying around the harbor. Nothing else of note.
