Greetings---there was a good variety of waterfowl in Mahoning Co. today 3/5. Numbers were pretty low, though. At the south end of Pine L. were 7 really tiny-looking CACKLING GEESE with Canadas of various sizes. Lots of smaller ones which are probably real migrants! Other sightings around Pine L. and Evans L. just to the north were: wood ducks, Am. black ducks, mallards, n. shovelers, redheads, ring-necked ducks, buffleheads, hooded mergansers, great blue heron, Am. coots, n. flicker, e. bluebirds, Am. robins, red-winged blackbirds. There are still plenty of wild turkeys around Mahoning Co. There are only a few killdeers. I still haven't seen vultures, woodcocks yet. Only a few grackles too.
