Sean Williams and I spent 10 hours today birding Delaware County’s largest reservoirs: Hoover, Alum Creek, and Delaware. Waterfowl, loons, grebes, and gulls were plentiful at each site. Highlights were a RED-THROATED LOON (Hoover Dam), 2 RED-NECKED GREBES (Sunbury causeway and Smother’s causeway at Hoover), and 1 BREWER”S BLACKBIRD at Pond 1B in Delaware Wildlife Area. Multiple pipits and Tree Swallows were also exciting. At each stop we kept detailed numbers on water birds and made sure to count no bird twice.
