I was able to spend about 2 hours this afternoon (Sunday) at Greenlawn Cemetery. I basically sat in my car at the feeders because it was raining, but was able to get out and around for about 15 minutes between showers. Here is a list of what I saw. For a new birder, this is a remarkable amount of species in one day. I'm learning how to identify them!!! Didn't count them because they kept coming back to the feeders often. Chipping Sparrows White-Throated Sparrows (plenty of these) White-Crowned Sparrow House Finch Starling Pine Siskin PINE WARBLER (a first for me) Carolina Chickadee Dark-eyed Juncos (males and females) Mourning Doves Red-Breasted Nuthatch White-Breasted Nuthatch Belted Kingfisher (female) Brown Thrasher (just one) Eastern Towhee (both male and female) American Goldfinch (lots of them on the niger feeder) Northern Flicker Downy Woodpeckers Red-bellied Woodpeckers Canada Geese Mallards Brown-Headed Cowbirds (both male and female in abundance) Blue Jays (of course) Cardinals Robins I swung past Columbus Audubon Park at Greenlawn Dam and saw 4 Cormorants in the water, 2 Great Blue Herons, some Ring-billed Gulls, a few Mallards, and of course Canada Geese. On my way home I stopped at Prairie Oaks (far west side of Franklin County) for just a few minutes and was rewarded with another first for me - a Ring-necked Pheasant. What a marvelous bird to see!!! I also saw plenty of Red-Winged Blackbirds. Enjoyed the day even though the weather was not very spring-like.
