Finally, the first two warblers of the spring migration showed up in my yard. This morning a N.Waterthrush spent an hour at the edge of the pond, energetically foraging under the wet leaf litter. This evening a Palm Warbler showed up in the shrubs, joining a lone Ruby Crowned Kinglet. Where are the rest? No yellow warblers, no yellow rumps, no pines....... I checked the 12 bluebird boxes yesterday and was surprised to find three with completed bluebird nests, and one with an egg. They have been mobbed by tree swallows and I wasn't sure the bluebirds were holding on under the onslaught, but, more resourceful and tenacious than I realized.
