This morning I had the opportunity to visit the Conneaut sandspit and lagoon at about 8AM. The sandspit is presently not a visual delight; looking more like a freshly bulldozed landfill; you enter thru a gauntlet of discarded tires; to see images in the sand placed by local spinout artists. Thank goodness the birds don't seem to care! Here are some highlights: Dunlin 1 with a black belly Bonaparte's Gull 95+ most in breeding plumage Caspian Tern 72+ all in breeding adult plumage Black-crowned Night-Heron 4 adults 1 immature Great Black-backed Gull 62+ on beach, in all stages of plumage Northern Pintail 1 male Common Loon 2 breeding plumage Blue-winged Teal 2 pair Lesser Scaup 1 pair Hooded Merganser 1 female American Coot 4+ Red-breasted Merganser 20+ Bob Lane _________________________________________________________________ Make i'm yours.
