Yesterday, I had two White-eyed Vireos at my house calling from their favorite patches of mutiflora rose. Also, there were at least 3 Yellow-rumped Warblers and some kinglets working a grove of aspen which is now in full bloom. I almost ran over a very large Turkey gobbler that ran across SR 143 in front of me. His beard looked almost a foot long, and his head was blue and white. I have been hearing gobbling in the mornings since last weekend. Falcate Orangetip butterflies and Mourning Cloaks are now common, as are the mosquitos! Also saw the first Spring Azure flitting around a mud puddle. Still waiting on my Whip-Poor-Will.....he's a few days late this year.
