a leconte's sparrow was flushed up several times and afforded good views in the nature preserve dunes area at headlands beach state park throughout this morning (05/07/2008). typical of leconte's sparrow, the bird was difficult to flush and, when flushed, would fly a little, dive into the grass, and run for cover. for most of the morning a first-summer laughing gull was present with a small flock of bonaparte's gulls and 40+ caspian terns at the east end of the nature preserve beach. this gull was present about 11:00 a.m. but could not be found just before noon. the snowy egret reported from veterans park yesterday, may 6, was not relocated today. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
