For details and pointers see: http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php Little Blue Heron: John Watts found one at the Evans Road bridge at Lake Logan, Hocking County, on the 2nd. An attempt later in the day failed to relocate it. Cattle Egret: Larry Gara found one on the beach at Caesar's Creek State Park on the 30th. Golden Eagle: Jeff Brown reported a juvenile soaring near the town of Mingo, Champaign County, on the 25th. Willet: Quite a good week for this species. Rick Asamoto spotted two on the beach at Caesar's Creek State Park on the 29th that could not be relocated the next day. On the 1st, David True found four on the beach at Deer Creek State Park, while Jim Fry found a state-record 83 at the upper end of Lake Logan, Hocking County. Glen Crippen was able to relocate only two of them the next day. Whimbrel: On the 30th, Doug Overacker watched one on the beach at Buck Creek State Park and later in a nearby farm field. Laughing Gull: There was a second hand report of one on the beach at Buck Creek State Park on the 30th. It could not be relocated. Chuck will's Widow: According to Debra Hausrath, they were singing at their traditional spot along Copas Road in Adams County on the 26th (old Delorme p.84 B/C 1). Golden-winged Warbler: A good week for this hard-to-find wood warbler. Rob Lowry saw one along the front part of the pet trail near the old orchard trees in Highbanks Metroparks, Delaware County, on the 25th. A week later on the 2nd, he reported another from the same trail on the "east side of the muddy stretch". On the 26th the species was reported from the Winton Woods Birding Fest in Hamilton County and from Mogadore Reservoir, Portage County. Neil Cade found on at Shawnee Lookout County Park, Hamilton County, on the 2nd. Clay-colored Sparrow: Tom Kemp had one in his backyard in Bowling Green on the 1st. Directions are at www.RareBird.org. Le Conte's Sparrow: Jay Stenger and Sue Metheny found two on the 26th at Miami Whitewater Forest and Wetlands, Hamilton County, "along the farm road in the grassy fields with the wet spots mixed in". Western Meadowlark: A Wood County Big Day on the 25th included this species. Presumably it is the previously reported bird at Range Line and Cygnet Roads west of the town of Cygnet. Common Redpoll: The one lingering at Bob Lane's feeder near Damascus, Mahoning County, was last seen on the 25th.
