A male EVENING GROSBEAK was in my North Perry yard this evening. It was in
the fir tree near my feeder, but never came down to the feeders. It
appeared to be feeding on midges. I am guessing it is the same bird that
first appeared May 19. A female was present on 5/21, but hasn't been seen
since. The male was also seen 5/21 and 5/26. I tried to keep an eye on
where it was heading, but it disappeared too quick. Other birds at the
feeder giving a feel of winter are 2 pair of purple finches, a pine siskin,
and a pair of nesting red-breasted nuthatches. Birds seen in the yard to
remind me its early June were alder, willow, and yellow-bellied flycatcher,
and blackpoll, Wilson's, mourning and a late CONNECTICUT WARBLER.
