This morning after working in one of my atlas blocks, I checked out a large pasture that lies just tantalizingly outside my block. The field is about 50 ha in extent and has harbored Dickcissels and Bobolinks for the past two years. I did not find any Dickcissels on this visit, but the Bobolinks were there in force. I saw four males engaging in display flights and at least two females responded. About two dozen Red-winged Blackbirds were conducting operations over the same territory. There was no indication of any kind of interspecific interaction. The field is on Engle Mill Road about one mile south of Spring Valley-Paintersville Road Cheers Bob -- Robert D Powell Wilmington, OH, USA [log in to unmask] http://rdp1710.wordpress.com Nulla dies sine linea ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
