Hello all, Between 10 a.m. and 10:20 a.m., a Red-necked Phalarope (adult non-breeding plumage) was observed on a 1.5 acre home/farm pond in SW Wayne County about 1 mile SW of Shreve Lake (Delorme pg. 50 C2) from the comfort of a home using a 20-60 spotting scope from about 50 yards. It was slowly feeding (not really spinning) in shallow water about 2-10 feet from shore} in an algae mat, submerged pondweed area. I don't know how long the bird was there before being observed, but it feed/swam around for a while then took off as though leaving. However it circled around for a moment while being chased by an Eastern Kingbird. (I guess as in recent posts, kingbirds have non-discrimination tastes as to what they chase). Shortly thereafter it returned to the same spot and fed awhile, then took off for a moment, was airborne for a little while then returned again. It remained for several more minutes but then left and has not been seen since. Field marks were noted that removed Wilson's and Red Phalaropes as possibilities. Several "documentation quality only" photos were taken (not good enough to post as they were digiscoped (handheld) through a telescope),but are recognizable as photos of a red-neck.
