I took a late-morning walk through Sheldon's Marsh today. The migrant songbirds have started moving. I saw a mixed-species flock consisting of White-breasted Nuthatches, Tufted Titmice, Red-eyed Vireos, Black- throated Green Warblers, and Eastern Wood Peewee. There was a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird with them for awhile but she didn't stay with the group and probably just happened to be there. The usual species of songibrds were around including Eastern Bluebird and Gray Catbird, but they were quiet. There were 4 American Black Ducks in the water along the walkway and 3 Common terns just off the beach. The gulls were too far out in the water to determine whether there were any Bonaparte's in the mix.
