Reports have been gleaned by the compiler from various internet sources, particularly Ohio-birds, The Ohio Birding Forum, the RareBird.org forums, Cincinnati Bird Sightings Log, Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) Rare Bird Alert, and from some individual observers who kindly share their knowledge. Questions, comments, complaints and additional noteworthy sightings not posted to one of the above may be sent to the compiler. Review List Species. (Review list species are sufficiently rare that details of any sighting can help increase our understanding of Ohio's bird life. Suggestions and guidelines for submitting documentation of review list birds can be found at the OOS website (www.ohiobirds.org). BLACK NECKED STILTS: Delores Cole and others found the Sandusky County birds at the flooded area of TR-292 on 8/2. It has been a privilege to have these birds around all summer. SPRAGUES’S PIPIT: On 8/2 Dan Sanders and Doreene Linzell found a probable bird near a flooded area of South Ridge Rd (#175). This is SE of Clyde in Sandusky County. Highlights: Willet: A single bird was found by Mark Vass on 8/7 at Conneaut Harbor. Upland Sandpiper: Su Snyder and friends were able to find two birds at the Mansfield Airport. They reported that a good viewing area is the parking lot to the left of the Flyboy’s Restaurant. Any small airport should probably be checked for the presence of this species. Whimbrel: Mark Vass reports that two birds were present at Conneaut Harbor on 8/3. Marbled Godwit: One bird was present at Conneaut Harbor on 8/3 & 8/7, reported by Mark Vass. It would be interesting to know if this was the same bird on both days. Wilson’ Phalarope: Four of these spectacular shorebirds were present at the flooded area of TR-292 in Sandusky county on 8/2. They were reported by Delores Cole and company. - End Transcript ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
