My wife and I took a walk on the boardwalk Saturday at Area M to view the mudflats. I took the following picture with my 400 mm lens from the
end of the boardwalk - a long shot for an
effective 600 mm focal length but oh well.

I'm not good with ID'ing shorebirds but looking at Sibley's I'm thinking could this have been an adult
nonbreeding Bonaparte's Gull? It was significantly smaller than the
Ring-billed Gulls in the area.

thanks
