At 6 PM this evening, there were 54 Double-crested Cormorants on and near the floating barrels just North of the dam (West of the Columbus Zoo). I enjoyed watching one individual in the water, not very buoyant, with his body below the water and just his neck and head sticking up, and then thrashing the water frantically and then diving down to feed. Seems to not be very energy efficient, but fun to watch! The only other birds within sight were a two Mallards, two Great Blue Herons, and a few of Ring-billed Gulls.
