Hi all, It's been interesting seeing all of the migrant reports from the northern reaches of the state. I was down in the depths of southern Ohio today - Adams and Pike counties - and was struck by the number of territorial males still singing. Not nearly as robustly as back in spring/early summer, when testosterone was coursing through them, but still in decent tune. We had three different Summer Tanagers singing, two of which offered excellent views. Pine Warblers still sang, and at one point a family unit was close at hand, featuring a hatch-year female - this can truly be a "confusing fall warbler". Eastern Wood-Pewees, Red-eyed, Yellow-throated, and White-eyed vireos still sang away, along with a few others. Not for long, enjoy them while you can. Migrants were not so much in evidence; just a few species of warblers. Northern Flickers were quite frequent and obviously on the move, though. Jim Jim McCormac Columbus, Ohio Like nature?
