A Black-bellied Plover was in the company of Kildeer on the beach at Alum Creek State Park north of Columbus. It was found as part of a Columbus Audubon hike, but unfortunately after most of the particpants had left. Other birds of note were an early Common Loon swimming off the beach, a Green Heron grabbing minnows out of a shore-pond at Berlin Station access, the first few Golden-crowned Kinglets of the season around New Galena and the Visitor's Center, and a stray Red-br.Nuthatch in a few pines at New Galena. Migration was surprisingly subdued, with only a few small flocks of Redwings, Robins, and Waxwings; numbers should pick up as the week turns cooler.
