Last night around 5:30 I was at Darby Bend Lakes, west of Columbus, off Amity Road, and as I pulled into the parking lot I noticed some birds of prey flying low over the lake. When I got out of my car, one in particular flew very slowly over top of me, not very high in the air, and just glided around. I was able to get a good look at him with my binoculars. It was a peregrine falcon in all his beauty!!! What a treat. I watched him for about 2-3 minutes before he/she soared up and out of sight over the tree line. There were also some turkey vultures, and what looked to be one black vulture. I didn't get a good view of him, but could see white on his wings underneath. That's my first sighting of a peregrine falcon in the wild, and so I was thrilled!!! Enjoying the beauty of the birds!!!
