Hello Ohio Birders, As a follow-up to Bill Whan's post, in New England I've found boreal chickadees foraging with black-capped or in mixed flocks of small woodland birds. My challenge has been to maintain enough patience to check every bird and not just assume that they're all black-capped. (This tip can work in central and southern Ohio for finding the occasional black-capped mixed in with Carolinas.) I suspect that boreal chickadees may occur more frequently than reported, at least in northernmost Ohio, but some of us (like me) may not always think of them when we see small flocks of chickadees. Happy birding, Dave Horn Columbus ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
