Steve, A hummingbird bander in Oklahoma has been keeping track of albino Ruby-throated Hummingbirds for at least the past 15 years, and has reports of at least 200-300 of them from all over the species' range. Michigan has had two reports in the past few years, plus a leucistic bird this year. Of all the albino Ruby-throats that have been banded (probably nearly 100), none have been adults when banded and none have been recaptured as adults, which might be expected for such a conspicuous small bird as it would more easily fall prey to predators. You may wonder how it weighs the food. It doesn't. It just eats another hummingbird. -- Steven Wright ========================================= ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Pendleton" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 6:25 AM Subject: [Ohio-birds] Possible albino hummingbird sighting > Hi all, > A co-worker showed me pictures she took of a white hummingbird at her > feeder in Amanda, Ohio.
