I am not as accomplished with Sparrows as I would like to be so when my son asked about the bird in frames 16 - 19 (http://adamvalencic.com/uploads/10252008/) I had to plead uncertainty. I think it is a Swamp Sparrow (we saw it at The Mentor Marsh along the Wake Robin boardwalk) but am not certain. The last two images of this link (26 and 27) look a lot like a Mockingbird to me. I don't see many Mockingbirds in N.E. Ohio so I was again unwilling to tell him for certain. It is Robin-size, did a considerable amount of tail-bobbing and displayed white outer tail feathers in flight. We saw the bird Saturday under the power lines near Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH (just S of I-90 on Rt. 306). Thanks in advance for you help, Matt Valencic Chagrin Falls, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
