I was at Wildwood State Park Friday afternoon late (10/31) and today (11/1) at noon. I was at Sims Park in Euclid just before 10am today also. Since I seem only to get out on the weekends lately I had new birds for me only. New for me were Fox Sparrows, Common Mergansers, a large group of Juncos & Chipping Sparrows and a few A. Tree Sparrows. Sims Park - Euclid 11/1 (9:45 to 11:30am (Sims was very birdy this morning so after seeing the ducks I decided to stay as there were NO disk golf players!) Lesser Scaup 9-10 Surf Scoter 4 (could only find a group of 4 today) all to the west Black Scoters 12 (one group to the west) group of 5 Scoters flying east looked like Black Scoters COMMON MERGANSERS - 2 f (first I have seen this fall) in the water Red-breasted Mergansers - over 150 Double-crested Cormorants - several Bonapartes Gulls - several Many many gulls very very far out Hairy Woodpeckers 2 Blue Jays - many Black-capped Chickadees - numerous Golden-crowned Kinglets 7-8 Ruby-crowned - 2-3 Hermit Thrush 2 Cedar Waxwing 5 American Tree Sparrow 2 Fox Sparrows 2 White-throated 15-20 Dark-eyed Junco 12+ Wildwood Park, Cleveland 10/31 & 11/1 (12:00 to 1:45pm) Coopers Hawk 1 Eastern Phoebe 1 10/31 Blue Jays - many Black-capped Chickadees - numerous today Carolina Wren 1 10/31 House Wren 1 Winter Wrens 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets 12-15 Ruby-crowned Kinglets ~ 5 Hermit Thrush 2 Yellow-rumped Warblers 5-6 (10/31/) Sparrows: American Tree ~ 5 each day (first I have seen) Chipping 1 Field 1 Fox 2 (first I have seen this fall also at Sims today) Song 10-12 each day - very numerous each day Swamp 1 White-throated 20-25 at least Dark-eyed Juncos 15-20 Library (just south of Wildwood today on the lawn 1:45pm) DARK-EYED JUNCOS 80+ CHIPPING SPARROWS 16+ Also few White-throated in with them Nancy Anderson Richmond Hts, OH http://www.flickr.com/photos/nancy_a/ ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
